Clinical teaching experience

In the clinical teaching experience, we worked as group me, Marisa and Natalie. We covered chapter 14, 15 and 16 it was about grading and assessment students and rubrics. I really like the idea of working with group because we can shear our ideas together and what a really like the most is when we did the drawing activity and how the class felt after each of us gave them candies and how linked that with grading because it was a really good example of grading and how teachers are different and how each teacher has his or her point view.

Individual hours

For my individual hours, I went to gerity school. For my first visit I went to a kindergarten class and the teacher was singing an alphabet song with her students and thee students were really excited with the teacher. After that class she took them to another class, where they watched a movie with another teacher. After that they went back to their classroom and start doing some drawings as groups. What a really liked the most about the school is how the teacher work and interact with their students and how the students respect the rules and respect each other's. For the rest of my individual hours I almost did the exact thing over and the students and the teachers were really kind and  I really enjoyed my time with them and I learned a lot about eduction in general and working with kids specifically.

Shaker Heights Middle School

Shaker Heights Middle School, it is the first school district in Greater Cleveland to adopt the highly regarded International Baccalaureate program at all grade levels. The IB schools features a global focus and emphasis creative problem solving, hands-on projects, inquiry-based learning, and community service. It was a really great experience and I am glad we had the chance to go to the classrooms and observe how the teachers work with their students and I think it was a really great opportunity for my classmates who want to be teachers.

The first classroom we went to, was a math class and they had an exam on that day so there was not that much to do. But I liked how the class was full of posters and nice stuff. It was not a big class there was about 15 students which I think it is good for them so the teacher can spend equal time with each student.

The second classroom we went to, was a reading class. They worked in two groups; first group was the teacher and 4 students they were reading in circle and the teacher was listening to them and correcting them if they make any mistakes. The second group, were doing the same thing but there was only   2 students in that group.

Banking concept is that way of teaching where the students just sit in the class and listen to their teachers, I do not think it is the best way of teaching and I feel like the students wont enjoy their time in the school and they will get bored. I really think students should like the school and the school should be an healthy environment for them and all that have a influence in the students performance. If they do not like the school there will be no way they will succeed and be good students.Me personally, I have tried the banking method because that is how the teachers do teach back home. It was one of the most boring thing I have ever had, no one just wanna stay and do nothing but listening especially if it is a topic that you do not really like. I think it is up to the teachers to make their students excited to the school or not and in my opinion the banking method is not the greatest way, students should be involved in the classroom and they should be able to talk and ask if they have questions if they have and they should be comfortable in the classroom.

I came from a different culture, and I do not think we have issue with LGBT people and it is not that big topic that people talk about. I believe in that we should respect all people and see them as individuals and people need to stop judge others based on their identity because it is not something that they chose. I think no one has the right to judge others and people have the right to live their lives in the way they like because in the end of the day it is their lives they can do whatever they want as long as they do not hurt anyone.

In the schools you might see people from different ethnicities and backgrounds, and you need to be open minded and treat people how you want to be treated. School should be a healthy and safe environment for everyone and should accept everybody no matter what what group they belong to. We need to put ourselves in other shoes and see how it feels to be judged upon something you didn't really choose. Moreover, parents should teach their kids to accept and respect other people who are from different groups because they are gonna have to deal with people from different groups in their future. According to Rogers, parents need to protect their LGBTQ kids but I think they also need to teach their kids to stand up for themselves because their parents are not going be always with them.

[Teachers] should recognize that the linguistic form a student brings to school is intimately connected with loved one’s community, and personal identity. To suggest that this form is “wrong” or, even worse, ignorance, is to suggest that something is wrong with the student and his or her family. (p.33). Teachers need to understand that they are going to work with different group of people and some of them English is not their first language some of them might have an accent and teachers need where were their students coming from. As we talked in the class some of the students do not speak English outside the school and the way they think might be different because they are coming from different culture. The teachers should teach their students to see things from different people's perspectives because people are not the same. As I said before, there is no such a right or wrong people but it is just different beliefs and we need to respect other people's beliefs and cultures because in my opinion respect is the most important element in the classroom.

we went to Boulevard Elementary School, last week. It was a great and completely new experience for me to. I really liked the idea of the open classrooms and how does that create a healthy a environment for the students and make them enjoy their time in the school. I have not seen any school like this before and I think it is a really cool idea. Also, I noticed how the walls were full of posters of numbers and alphabets.

First, we went to a kindergarten classroom, and the classroom was colorful and there were posters everywhere. What I really liked about this classroom how all the kids were involved with the teacher , how they were all singing with the teacher, and how they were very excited with the teacher. Even though the classroom was open classroom but I liked how the all kids were paying attention to their teacher and they did not get distracted I feel like if they all just got used to the open classrooms and how they can just focus with their teacher without getting distracted with the noise that is coming from outside the classroom. The teacher's way was really interesting because how she can keep all the students excited and focusing with her , and they were full of energy to sing  the alphabet song with the teacher.

We went to a 4rd grade classroom and they had a history class, the teacher divide the class into groups and each student had a laptop and they used a website for this class where they can watch videos and do their assignments there. I think it is a really important for students to have access to the internet especially if it is a History class so they can watch videos related to the topic they have and that will help them more to remember these historical events. There was one thing I did not like or maybe I did not understand, because there was a kid with wheelchair and he was sitting by himself and I just did not like the fact how he was sitting by himself and he was not involved with the other students.

Then we went to a 3rd classroom, this classroom was full of posters just like the other classrooms. There was a group of four girls were reading a book with the teacher. Also, there was another group of boys and they were reading by themselves. I think, maybe they were waiting for their turn to read with their teacher.

last class we went to was a Second grade classroom. The students were sitting on the floor and their teacher was reading a story about valentines day. The classroom was full of posters just like the rest of the classrooms we went to and was colorful. After they finished the story the teacher put them in groups and they had to do some activities as a group.
